Still Working, Sort Of

I'm still sewing...sort of.  I finished this quilt top for my husband's cousin who is expecting a girl later this summer.
Should I add another solid border? Is it done? I can't decide!

I based the colors in this quilt from the room color they chose--a dark purple/pink.  Hopefully they like it!  This was pretty easy to make, though the cutting took a while.  I cut random width strips of a bunch of prints and solids (from 1.25"-2.5") and left them all about 20-22" long.  I sewed 14-15 strips together then used my 12.5" ruler to cut out the block.  I then used the scraps from this process to cut 2" wide strips.  I sewed the scrap strips together to make the pieced border--this took very little time since so much of the work was already done!  I ended up with only a tiny amount of waste!

I have a REALLY exciting project in the works, but I can't talk about it!  I'm a tease, I know! :)

June Giveaway Winners

Sorry I'm late with this post!  I forgot I was going on vacation and would have limited internet access!  Oops!  Anywho, here are the My Precious giveaway winners for June!

Winner of Tula Pink's new book is #16 Ella who made the same block as Katie with her precious Parisville!  Ella, if you already own the book, you may either switch prizes with another winner OR I can award you a prize from one of the upcoming months and put the book back in the prize pool.  Just let me know!

Winner of the Alexander Henry charms is #13 Lindsay, who made this adorable dress with some of Denyse Schmidt's Greenfield Hill fabric

Winner of the Katie Jump Rope (various prints) donated by Kaelin of The Plaid Scottie is #34 Katie B, who made this beautiful block with her precious Good Folks stash!

Winner of the flat rate envelope stuffed full of my scraps is #2 Fiona, who made this STUNNING Fussy Fairytales quilt!

I will email all the winners when I get back home to get your mailing address!  Congrats and thanks everyone for participating!  I really love seeing the fantastic projects coming out of this group!  I hope cutting into that precious stash is getting easier!  Remember, we have two more months to go (along with 2 more months of prizes!) so go sew!

My Precious QAL June Giveaway

I'm sorry I've been a little MIA.  Moving does that!  I did manage to make two more Heather Ross centered blocks for this QAL!  These aren't my favorites, but I was more limited on fabric choices here because of the colors:

I hate it a little less now. Replaced one print with something a bit lighter  Much happier with this one!

Now it's time for June's My Precious link up party and giveaways! For those of you who are new here or don't know what I'm talking about, check out my original post HERE.

I'll repeat, the fabric does not have to be precious to anyone but you, however, I would like to stress that I don't want you entering just any old project for the sake of the giveaway.  This quilt-a-long is supposed to be about using the fabric you've been hoarding/reluctant to cut.

This month's 4 prizes include:

1.  A copy of Tula Pink's new book, Quilts from the House of Tula Pink: 20 Fabric Projects to Make, Use and Love, donated by Miss Tula herself!  She is so super sweet and generous! Thanks Tula!  If you guys haven't seen this book yet, it's fabulous!  So bright and colorful and there are tons of great tips and discussion on why certain quilting techniques are used--this is something I haven't seen in other books.  It really makes someone like me, who free motion quilts most everything, really think about the best way to highlight the design of my quilt!  Anywho, I'm babbling because I just love this book!

2.  A charm pack of Alexander Henry prints (with some hard to find and out of print ones!) from my friend Jenny at Cut.Iron.Sew.Repeat  Check out the beautiful quilt she made with some of her AH fabrics!
Precious QAL

3.  Katie Jump Rope fabric from the hilarious and talented Kaelin at The Plaid Scottie (picture coming soon!)

4.  A flat rate envelope stuffed with scraps and goodies from me!  While I love my scraps, my cup runneth over right now!  I have zero room!  I promise to include some hard to find stuff---Mendocino, Munki Munki, and whatever else I can fit in the envelope!  I'll try and include some of the winner's favorite fabrics (assuming I have them!)

So what do you have to do to win?  Just use the link up tool below to post a picture of something you've made with your precious fabric!

Remember:

  • The project must be complete unless it's a quilt.  You may post quilt blocks or partial quilt top.
  • Only ONE entry per person!
  • Please do not post more than one picture!

The giveaway will be open until June 19th at 11pm Central time.  Winners will be chosen by the random number generator and announced by June 20th.  I hope you all had fun and don't forget, there are more prizes to come all summer long so get ready to cut into more of your precious!

Etsy Shop Update!

I managed to complete something that isn't even on my to-do list this week.  Isn't that always how it goes?  You make a list and decide you aren't in the mood to do any of those things so you start a new project!  :) Anywho!  These boxy pouches are now listed in my etsy shop!  Thanks to Kaelin's tutorial, I can now make these without any exposed seams inside! Hooray!  UPDATE: 3 of the 4 have already sold, geez!  I guess I should make some more!
