I went on a quilting retreat this weekend with some of my Flickr peeps who live in New Orleans! Angela (Cut To Pieces), Kaelin (The Plaid Scottie), Karen, and Lana all got together at an awesome condo in Gulfport, Mississippi. It had three bedrooms, three bathrooms and lots of sewing space! We had a blast!
Angela and me at The Shed--a yummy BBQ place. Cherie came for the first night too! Sorry Cherie, the only pic I had of you wasn't fabulous for either of us, so I thought you'd appreciate it if I left if out. :)
Kaelin really enjoyed the ribs!
This guy really enjoyed unbuttoning his shirt, but we thought it would be better if he just unbuttoned it all the way. I mean, really, what good are those last two buttons doing anyway?
Angela opening her surprise birthday cake!
It was a super tasty cake from Whole Foods
Kaelin decided to throw Angela a little surprise birthday party. Her birthday isn't until July, but she's moving at the end of the month so this was our only opportunity to celebrate. We all got her (surprise!) a gift certificate to Hawthorne Threads!
Angela doing a little shimmy shake.
Angela took a break from booty shaking to work on a quilt (shhhh! It's for Moda Bakeshop!)

View into the condo living room. That's Kaelin making her unbelievable tacos for lunch on Saturday! She'll be posting the recipes on her blog soon! I made Giada's chicken carbonara for dinner Saturday night but I left out the lemon zest and walnuts. It was pretty tasty if I do say so myself!
Kaelin decided to work on her pouch for the Pretty {little} Pouch swap. Later I found out it was mine!!!!!!! I was so so so so so excited and happy! How rare is it to be able to give your partner their swap item in person? I love it!
I took my pouch on its maiden voyage fabric shopping on Saturday. Unfortunately, the fabric gods were against us and only one shop was open! We looked like a bunch of starving children peering into the window of a bakery at the last closed shop. They had tons of great stuff locked behind plate glass windows. We even looked around for a brick to throw through the window!
I was still pleased a punch with my pouch and beautiful Katie Jump Rope fabric from Kaelin! I also got this STUNNING organizer that Angela made--which was recently published! She swapped me for a Heather Ross pouch and some fabric. I still think I got the better end of the deal!
Me and Kaelin!
All the ladies! We had a wonderful time filled with fabric, dirty jokes, and lots of yummy food! These gals are feisty and fabulous and I'm so grateful to have been invited their (slightly crazy) party!
My finished project for the weekend was this quilt top for a friend of mine.
soooooooooooooo jealous!! sounds like a fantastic getaway!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for NOT posting that picture--mine were pretty awful, too! I wish I could have stayed all weekend :( I know you guys had a great time!

ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a blast! bummer that the fabric shops weren't all open! It's the shops loss I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time you had! Thanks for sharing it with us :)
ReplyDeleteGreat fun :D
ReplyDeleteIm slapping myself for not going! Why oh why did I totally forget about it. For some reason I was thinking the fall.
ReplyDeleteWhen is the next one. Tell Angela she has to fly back down and visit so I can go next year. Or I will tell her myself!!
Next summer! Lets go!
sewing weekends with friends are the BEST! I have one coming up in 3 1/2 weeks. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an excellent time! :) I can't believe you guys were matched up for the swap - nothing like the personal touch of delivering your swap item in person!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the most fun! I love the pouch Kaelin made for you with the yellow clip- beautiful!
ReplyDeleteah...what happened to the video? I was rocking some big ass moves. ;) I've been watching it over and over. How conceited is that?!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun! There is a "Shed" in Lafayette, Louisiana or Scott I should say, so if you are ever in this neck of woods...you should try it out! I love their food and the first time I ate there was in Ft. Walton Beach Florida! Looks like you guys had fun sewing!
