My favorite saying for a quilt blocks; "Don't be afraid of color" . Your block offers many opportunities to do just that.

Great block, I have been into star blocks and oversized blocks lately...oh who am I kidding, always! Congrats on a great block, I could see it as a patchwork full quilt!

Hi, Kelly! I'm Adrianne! I work in two different rooms when sewing anything, because we just don't have the space until one of my boys move out. Anyway, while chain stitching some beautiful pink plaids together one day recently, after getting them done (and I thank God it was a small messenger bag), realized some of them were backwards! I've been out of sewing/quilting for 20 years and forgot the 1st rule .. check twice, stitch once! I'm practicing my rusty skills on Christmas presents until I can get my confidence level up to stitching larger items!

I don't usually use solids much but do enjoy the rainbow colors.

Great block. Thanks for sharing.

I love the log cabin pattern and would love to make a quilt some day.

All the blocks I have tried so far have been paper-pieced blocks, because that's the only technique I have learned, and I really like it. Piecing without paper foundation scares me a little, as I am quite new to sewing and afraid of making mistakes :) I really like (and want to learn sewing) modern geometric blocks, such as yours.

Great block. Here's one of my favorite quotes: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."

My favorite thing to do when I am in my quilting room is listen to an old favorite tv series. Problem is, I forget my headphones are on and get up to walk around!

Perfect - regular and not regular - it is clever.

Great block, Kelly...congrats to you for getting in this issue. Can't wait to try your block; I can see many possibilities. Here's a laugh (or a groan?)...it's only 9 degrees right now in western Iowa---WAHH! Great weather for staying inside to quilt.

Love your block. I think I will try it scrappy. When a block comes out different from what I thought it would be. I sing. "Can't get no satisfaction"

I can so picture your block with the inner squares being being a tone-on-tone or fussy cut fabric and solids for all the others. Such a unique block.

What is more frustrating than to be sewing and losing a piece of fabric. Spent hours looking for it. Gave up and made a new one only to find that I had laid it in the bathroom.

Since I am still in the "clueless club" of quilting and I have a 3 year old ...my jam would have to be:
(Sung to farmer in the dell)
A quarter of an inch,
A quarter of an inch,
It better be a quarter of an inch,
So I wont rip a stitch."

Hmm work out songs...something with a beat to keep me running...no slow songs!

I am getting ready to attempt a New York Beauty Block. It is one of my favorites, but I have never tried it. Something funny? I sewed myself into my project a couple of weeks ago while hand piecing.

I don't know if it is funny or pathetic, but I've basted hexes to my sweatshirt when I've been working on them while watching tV
