A few weeks ago Olfa sweetly sent me one of their new Splash 45mm rotary cutters to try out! Now, to be honest, I'm such a girl that the first thing I did when I saw it was squeal, "OH! It's aqua!" Who says all your notions/tools have to be drab colors??? Plus, it makes it much easier to find in my mess of a sewing room. :) It works great and is easy to hold, like all Olfa cutters, but the absolute best part is how fast you can change the blade! You pull down a button on the back and BAM! The blade falls off! Have I mentioned it's AQUA???? So adorable! Yes, I'm a sucker for all things pretty.

I'm loving the aqua too! My favorite summer recipe is tomato cucumber salad: toss cherry tomatoes, peeled & diced cucumbers, and a little diced red onion together with a red wine vinaigrette dressing. It's fantastic!

Love the cutter, now they need to make one in pink or purple. A tall root beer float will do it for me.

My favorite summer food is Fried Chicken and home made potato salad. Of course some sweet tea, good company and lots of children running around.
The recipe for the chicken is: Go out to the chicken house and get a couple of good big chickens, get them dressed out, let them sit for a bit while you boil the potatoes for the salad.
Cut chicken into pieces, dreg in flour, then egg, then flour again, place in hot grease inside the cast iron frying pan. Fry hot, almost burn it on all sides, then salt, pepper, a sprinkle of nutmeg as you turn the pieces, turn down the heat and let it cook, lid covering pan. Check every now and then, turn pieces again so well cooked, remove lid, place in oven that is set at about 250 degrees. Leave while you fix the rest of the salad.
Get paper plates and napkins and spoons out. Call everyone to the backyard, have the blessing, then eat.

Aqua is my favorite!! I've wanted one solely for that reason, but the new feature sounds great, too! My favorite drink of choice is iced coffee a la Pioneer Woman. Sweetened condensed milk and half & half are a must. Next best thing to Starbucks...that I can afford anyhow. ;) I'm addicted to drinking them in my blue mason jars. Aqua...sigh.
